Richard is a geochemist with over 22 years’ experience in the contaminated land sector and has been with WSP|Parsons Brinckerhoff for 18 years. He is a member of the REMSOC steering committee and currently heads up the firms UK Ground Risk and Remediation practice.
He specialises in the development of cost effective remediation strategies and the use of sustainable remediation practices adopting the SURF UK Principles wherever possible. Over the years Richard has delivered a wide range of award winning site characterisation, remediation and brownfield regeneration projects in the UK and overseas working primarily for Private sector and regulated industries.
Impacts of De-Regulation for Contaminated Land – What does the future hold?
The last 18-24 months has seen a move to a more de-regulated contaminated land sector with a reduction in Environment Agency involvement and stretched local authority resources. What does this mean? What are the risks and opportunities? As part of the presentation Richard will discuss some of the challenges the industry faces and present some ideas on how a de-regulation model could work.
