Sam is the Head of Regulation at the Environmental Services Association (ESA), the trade association representing the UK’s waste management and secondary resources industry.
Sam leads on a wide range of regulatory initiatives within ESA, including the sectors’ role in tackling waste crime. Sam is currently managing the ‘right Waste, right place’ campaign to raise awareness of waste Duty of Care
Sam has been at ESA since 2001, before which he was a regulator with the Environment Agency.
Preventing Waste Crime by Raising Awareness of ‘Duty of Care’
Waste crime costs England over £600 million each year and causes significant damage to the environment and communities. This seminar will examine how stakeholders can collaborate to help tackle waste crime. Focussing on the importance of raising awareness and complying with the waste ‘Duty of Care’ to cut off the supply of waste to criminals and to ensure that businesses are not liable for their waste ending up in the wrong place.
