Biochar for contaminated soil remediation and climate-change mitigation
Our very timely findings could be applied in the context of in-situ biochar application to be an effective means of reducing groundwater pollution risks for agricultural chemicals or accidentally released into soil.
Results from experimental studies indicated that biochar amendment to soil significantly enhanced the remediation of the contrasting organic pollutants in soil-biochar systems. A numerical mass transfer model was also used to predict pollutant behaviour in heavy rainfall events.
