Dr. Kevin Leahy
ERM
Dr Kevin Leahy is a Technical Director at ERM, a Chartered Geologist and Specialist in Land Condition. After an early career in mineral and hydrocarbon exploration, Kevin now 15 years’ experience in the management of contaminated land and has worked internationally in a large variety of industrial sectors including oil & gas, mining, manufacturing, chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
His work is now focussed on high resolution site investigation, risk assessment and conceptual site models for complex sites, especially those in fractured bedrock, or where environmental sequence stratigraphy can assist in understanding contaminant fate and transport.
Kevin has managed and contributed to several large remedial projects for sites impacted chlorinated solvents and hydrocarbons, and contributes regularly to baseline and impact assessment for major infrastructure and housing development projects in the UK and overseas.
Innovation in site characterisation to reduce project risks and lifecycle costs
Understanding the conceptual site model at contaminated sites is recognised as one of the key components of in determining the success of a remediation project. This talk will provide an overview of some innovative approaches to site characterisation an illustrate how they can contribute to an improved understanding of the subsurface leading to reduce projects risks, lowered life cycles costs and ultimately more sustainable outcomes.
